Your help is desperately needed…

She’s too proud and stubborn to ask for help, so I’ve taken it upon myself to give this a try.

Gina Garreffi, is not only like family to me, but she’s also the owner and founder of the popular Doggy-Day Spa, Oliver’s Tails LLC, in Old Lyme, Connecticut. With the inspiration of her late father and her beloved golden retriever, “Oliver,” she opened this business back in 2003, and it’s been a success ever since.

Anyone who knows Gina, knows she’ll give you the shirt off her back. There is NOTHING she wouldn’t do for anyone or any pet, for that matter. In fact, she was noted in the local paper this past November, “The Day,” for offering her services free of charge to help one of the worst cases of neglect the Waterford-East Lyme Animal Control Officer had ever seen. When they reached out to Gina to help groom this horrifically matted, poor dog they named “Pilgrim” in the spirit of the Thanksgiving holiday, she jumped at the chance to help-no questions asked.

I’m not going to ramble on and on about how much Gina means to me and keep listing all the amazing things she has done for others to convince you to donate because it would take up too much space, but I’m reaching out in hopes that I can somehow help her keep this business she loves so much open.

A breast cancer survivor, Gina has always, always been a fighter, but unfortunately, this is fight she can’t win on her own.

After this historically frigid winter, her business came to a crawl, forcing her most days, to close altogether. After draining what was left of her savings into her late mother’s medical care, the bills started to pile up. Adding insult to injury, the rent of her shop went up the first of the year. And despite working ten-plus hours a day to make up for the lost revenue, it hasn’t been enough.

Oliver’s Tails will be forced to close its doors if Gina can’t get the help she is too stubborn to ask for, but so desperately needs.
