As a mother, I can’t imagine the horror of losing 3 of my children on the same day. My name is Chantelle Gorham, I am a business owner in Neighbouring Town (Levack). Destiny Osagie, 11, and Flourish Osagie, 10, were declared deceased at the scene of the Highway 17 crash. A third child, Britney Osagie, 6, was transported to hospital and succumbed to her injuries.
On Jan. 1 at approximately 8:50 a.m., members from the Nipissing West detachment of the OPP, along with Sudbury EMS and Greater Sudbury fire services, responded to a single-vehicle collision in the westbound lanes of Highway 17, near the Highway 144 interchange.
Two other occupants were sent to hospital with injuries, including a 10-year-old boy.
A 45-year-old female passenger was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and the boy was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The 45-year-old female driver was not injured. All occupants are from Chelmsford.
Update: Go Fund Me has asked that we name the parties involved. We do not feel this is appropriate, however will say that the Osagie Family will receive 75% of the funds, and the mother of the 10 year old boy (B. U) will receive 25% to assist with his care while he is still in Hospital at Sick Kids. We are hoping that Go Fund Me will stop delaying payment to these poor women (they have done everything needed) so that expenses can finally be taken care of. - Chantelle Gorham
