Ortiz Family PuertoRico Relief Fund

Everyone,

It is now 3 weeks post the hurricane and Puerto Rico remains in an emergency state.  Aid has not arrived to neither my parents area or my sisters.

I have spoken to my parents once on day 18, they said they were fine & in good spirits however my sister was finally able to buy gas (illegally) and go to see them, and after seeing them this weekend they are not fine.

My parents do have drums of water and 2 tanks of propane.  No electricity and limited ability to get supplies.  My sister said she found no food in their house.   After a 3 hour visit at the supermarket she was able to get them some basics.

There is also a major crack in their roof that must have occurred during the hurricane and worsened with the heavy rains this weekend.  My sister is looking for someone to repair that.

My other cousin through the military is able to get us a generator for my parents for a better price than we can in the “black market” or by me shipping it.

Until I can convince them to leave the island, I want to be able to send supplies to them and help my sister with the expenses of the roof, generator and the gas & diesel.  My sister assures me that they are safe staying in the house.

It’s an awful, powerless feeling, not knowing what’s really going on there.  I unfortunately cannot do this on my own and asking for your help.

Please donate through GoFund if you can.  If you prefer to bring me supplies to either my home in Santa Ana or my job near the Long Beach Airport, that would be great too.  Below is a listing of what’s needed.

If you wish to send them supplies directly, below is their address.  UPS told me today that it is  approximately $50 for a 10 lb box through an individual account (they are offering a discount to PR), it’s normally $75

And by the way, if you are local to me and have extra furniture you are getting rid of it…if you can, hold on to it a little longer until we figure out if my parents will move out here, or I have a storage I can put it into.

Their address is:
Angel Ortiz & Gladys Rosa
Urb. Villa Carmen, S-7 Calle Ponce
Caguas, Puerto Rico 00725
