orthopaedic knee surgery for Uganda: I am back again!
Hello my friends,
and first of all thanks for the time you will dedicate to read my few words;
My name is Antonio Marmotti, I am an Italian orthopaedic surgeon and I work at the University of Torino (Italy)
as many of you already know, last year the orthopaedic experience at the Uganda Orthopaedic Hospital in Entebbe named CORSU (http://corsu-uganda.org) has gone deeply well; with your help I've been able to bring a great amount of tools that I have used during my stay at the Corsu Hospital and the remaining of the tools has been used by my Uganda's orthopaedic colleagues to continue the work we started together in the month of April 2017; so at the end, thanks a lot really for your help, because it was a great success!!!
Now, I am back again with a little dream and a new project for Uganda's children; I will go back in Uganda during the first 15 days of April, and the new project involves the treatment of “bow leg” (knee axial deviations known as genu varum and genu valgum), that is an endemic orthopaedic condition there, due to the lack of vitamin D;
so, the idea that will be realized is:
to bring there the kind of tools that we currently use in Europe in our orthopaedic theater and to teach the Uganda's orthopaedic surgeons of CORSU Hospital how to use them;
bringing there the tools and the plates and screws that are used for this operation WILL means to go and leave a seed that eventually will grow during the time!
In other words, having the possibility to teach a new technique (“growing together” in the operating theater for 15 days) WILL make the local surgeons able to do that procedure independently during the year and it WILL allow for a better cure for this disease from that time so on
Yes , it will be a small change and a small improvement in the life of the Uganda's patients,
but
as many of you remember,
“we can change the world, but we have to do it by saving one child at a time”
so again I am here to ask you a help to buy these tools:
the cost of the plates and the tools for performing the operation is 15.000 euros,
please, help me in finding some of this money to realize this little dream
we really can do more than what we imagine, it if we give a little of our time and our heart,
and we can do that just saving one child at a time
