Orsett & Thurrock Cricket Club - Fundraiser for New Nets

Orsett and Thurrock Cricket club were formed in 2016 as an amalgamation of the 2 previous local cricket clubs, Orsett, and Thurrock. Both clubs have long been an important part of the community with each having been established well over 100 years ago.

Since the merger, the newly formed Orsett & Thurrock Cricket Club has grown from strength to strength. The club is now one of the largest Adult playing sections in Essex putting out 8 or 9 teams every Saturday.

The colt's section is also one of the largest in Essex, having over 220 members, between the ages of 6 and 16 and provides a safe and enjoyable space for both boys and girls.

The club prides itself on being a very diverse, inclusive and welcoming environment. Cricket Tournaments are hosted by the club for local schools whilst we also participate in the Jack Petchey awards scheme.

The club are attempting to raise funds to help relay the outdoor nets which are in desperate need of replacement. The club have obtained grants to assist with this however sadly this will not cover the entire cost of the refurbishment, and a large amount of the money needed will have to be paid for and raised by the club itself. The nets are an important part of the everyday development for all members of the club during the season hence this repair is needed urgently to be ready in time for the new season.
