Orphanage in Tanzania

My name is Asha and I am a 4th year college student in Raleigh, North Carolina. I am originally from Tanzania and I have a story to share:

This past winter, I visited an orphanage in Kiwalani area in Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania. The conditions I encountered were saddening. 

The orphanage was started by a couple who invested money in building a home for abandoned children. Thanks to funds they received, they were able to secure a place that now holds 60 girls and 55 boys (aged 3 months to 18 years old) with more children joining weekly.

The caretakers sign them up for schools, clothe them, feed them and provide them with a home until they get adopted.

I was inspired by this couple. Their desire to selflessly help these children urged me to join their cause. The orphanage was filled with young, bright children: future teachers, engineers, sales people, bankers, doctors, leaders, artists, architects, politicians and more. I am determined to do all I can to help the children grow into adults and have the chance to live to their full potential.

To do this, I need your help!

When I visited the orphanage, the biggest issues that the couple brought up were:

1) Food and water 

2) School uniforms needed immediately (otherwise not allowed to attend classes)

3) Maintenance of the orphanage 

4) Building a wall around the orphanage to increase security

Please donate to this cause to support these innocent children so that they can have a better future. All the funds will be handled by me and will be personally transferred to the caretakers of the orphanage so that no money is lost by using 'middle people'. I will include images of the children and the orphanage as it develops thanks to your donation. Every dollar that you donate will go a long way!

While taking classes, I also work during the semester and am planning to  dedicate some of my earnings to this cause as well.
