Orland Township Food Donation Drive

After holding NINE highly attended grocery distribution events during the pandemic, Orland Township is now asking for community assistance in restocking the shelves of the Food Pantry.

During our distribution events, which included drive-up options and other CDC safety guideline standards, the Township Food Pantry gave close to 12,000 boxes packed with perishable and non-perishable grocery items, 5,000 cases of water, paper towels, toilet paper and $25 gift cards to residents in need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We were also able to make 75 home deliveries in this period of time, and supported nearly 1,120 pets through our Pet Food Pantry. The perseverance of our volunteers and staff made it possible to safely serve residents in need during the COVID-19 pandemic.

 However, due to unprecedented food demand because of skyrocketing unemployment amid the coronavirus pandemic, food donations go out as just quickly as they come into the pantry. In order to keep up with the demand as community members continue to struggle with the negative impacts of COVID-19, Orland Township is reaching out to residents who are able to make monetary donations; as doing so allows us additional funds to purchase much needed gift cards to local grocery stores, as well as other pantry items that will support those who need it most.

 No matter how big or how small, any donation made will provide assistance for a neighbor in need. Help support Orland Township’s efforts by contributing to the “Stock the Pantry Donation Drive” and help us reach our $50,000 goal!
