Orion's school trip to Disneyworld

Donation protected
(This is Amy, Orion's mom.)The choir and band kids from Orion's school have been given the opportunity to travel to Disneyworld this spring. Orion has always wanted to go, but I have never been able to get him there.

Let me start by saying that Orion is a great kid. He is kind, intelligent, creative, sensitive...I could go on and on, as any mother could. He also has some challenges in his life. Orion has multiple diagnoses: Asperger's Syndrome, Sensory Processing Disorder, Anxiety, OCD,  and Mood Dis-regulation Disorder are the biggies. What this means for him is that to just do the things "regular" kids to he has to expend a lot more physical and emotional energy. He gets overwhelmed easily by sights, sounds, smells, etc. He has mood swings that are difficult to control. Because of these issues, I will have to travel with him to Disney, doubling the expense. Orion needs time and space to recover from everything so we can't share a room (or the expense of a room) with anyone. I have opted to drive down myself to save him an intense, 26 hour, noisy, smelly, overwhelming bus ride.

Now for the financial stuff. I can't work outside the home due to my anxiety disorder and Fibromyalgia, so my husband, Doug, bears that weight. I am not on any kind of assistance, nor is Orion yet. Child support from Orion's bio dad is nonexistent. This past year Doug was forced to change from an owner-operator in the trucking business to a company driver. This change along with high medical insurance costs and unforeseen repairs on our house, has left us barely scraping by. As embarrassing as it is to put this out there, I feel it's necessary to provide background. We are luckier than most and I am thankful for that.

I know that Disneyworld is not the most noble or important cause in the world, but I really want Orion to be able to go. He deals with so much in his daily life and he has always been obsessed with Disney. (Just check out his FB profile pic.) Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read, share, or donate. You are all appreciated!
