Orion's Legacy

Donation protected
On October 28, 2018, at the age of 22, we lost our dear friend, co-worker and equine therapist, 'Orion' to Colic. Orion was a key piece of the therapeutic riding puzzle at the North Fraser Therapeutic Riding Association and will be dearly missed by many.

For 16 years, Orion cared for each and every one of his riders by not passing  judgement; only unconditional love.  He taught many program participants the skills needed to ride and care for horses, but more importantly, through riding,  he encouraged them to be independent, happy, and confident individuals.

The Fjord breed is ideal for therapeutic riding because of their size, temperament and sturdy build, they are however; difficult to find, even from breeders and can be more expensive than other horses that are more locally available. Fjords are worth their weight in gold though when they can have the impact on as many lives as Orion did.

The funds raised will allow the program to purchase a new Fjord from a breeder (likely in Alberta), have the horse examined by a Veterinarian prior to finalizing the purchase agreement and the hauling of the horse to the lower mainland.

Please help us raise the funds necessary to purchase another Norwegian Fjord for the program in Orion's honour.  Our puzzle is missing a piece...
