We're a family owned and operated small business. My husband and I own a wonderful Organic Vegan Bath and Beauty store in San Antonio, TX. We closed temporarily two weeks ago after receiving a mandate to close. We have been practicing social distancing and our employees have been our online support team. Our store drew foot traffic that our online store has not been able to match for the last four years. We have two employees in addition to ourselves. We are all full time and love what we do. We started our company after our oldest daughter developed severe eczema and I could not find anything on the market to soothe her dry irritated skin. I created recipes for three years before transitioning to farmers markets in 2016 and our first store in 2018. We opened our larger store in May 2019 where we also host bath bomb making classes and parties. Our company has been affected by the covid-19 pandemic like a number of small businesses around the world. We saw our traffic completely disappear. Our customers are accustomed to visiting our shop to smell, sample and touch and now that’s very much out of the question due to COVID-19. We're using our creativity and networking capabilities to stay relevant and engaged with our customers through social media and email. However in the shortfalls of having to close our physical store temporarily we have seen a significant downturn in sales. We have an amazing staff and would love to maintain our staff virtually without job cuts and permanent closure. Our store is a fun loving soap shop that quickly became a skin safe haven for those with eczema and sensitive skin. We are raising funds to streamline our online presence and pay monthly expenses at our physical store. It is quickly becoming a struggle to maintain cost and maintain jobs with the significant decline in sales. We have applied for assistance but with the ever changing requirements and long wait periods we have found ourselves in urgent need. Update: We were denied funding from the emergency disaster loan through the SBA.
We were denied the PPP because of lack of funding available through our bank Chase. We intend to reapply if funding opens up again for PPP
