If you know her, then she has probably been there for you in a time of need. Maybe she brought you some food when you were sick or gave you moral support and prayers when you were feeling lost. Maybe she loaned you money or connected you with someone who could help you out with something. Amy Cox is that friend who hears and sees your struggle and shows up without you having to ask. She has been there for so many of us, even when she has been struggling - that’s just who she is.
I’m reaching out to friends, family and strangers to ask for your prayers and help in Amy’s time of need. So often, we see someone we care about struggling in some way and we want to help, but we just don’t know what to do. I created this page to empower all of us who know and love her (and even those who don’t know her but feel led to help) in lifting her up.

To give you a bit of background on the series of unfortunate events in Amy's life over the more recent years…
2008 - Amy started having serious health problems
2010 - She was hospitalized and diagnosed with a Pulmonary Embulism
2011 - Due to the medical expenses and circumstances, Amy had no other choice but to move out of her rental apartment and moved in with family and friends.
2012 - Early in that year, she was advised by doctors to have a Hysterectomy due to medical concerns. 2 months after that, ENT doctors diagnosed her with a tumor on her submandibular gland. The tumor and the gland were both removed. Amy returned to work after 5 months recovery. It took 2 yrs in total to recover from these 2 major surgeries.
2013, 2014 & 2015 - She was hospitalized 3 times due to the passing of painful kidney stones. She has also suffered extreme debilitating anxiety that has heaped greater challenges onto her already difficult circumstances.
2017 - Severe stomach pain and excessive vomitting caused Amy to go by ambulance to the hospital. She was later sent to ICU. She was very ill with Plurasy (double pneumonia) in ICU and diagnosed with a genetic condition (hypertryglycerdermia) involving a life-threatening condition of the pancreas. While in ICU, her picline was administered unsuccessfully. Doctors informed her family that she had one pulse left in her hand and that if she didn't have surgery, her arm would die and she was also in danger of losing her life. She had an emergency Fasciotomy surgery, due to a compartment sydrome blot clot in her left arm. She was so ill with Plurasy that doctors put her in a sleep-induced state for 3 days.
After 1 week, another Fasciotomy surgery was performed. Amy was hospitalized for 1-month and then spent 10 days in a rehab center, followed by 5 weeks of daily home health care and physical therapy.
Amy continues to need outpatient therapy which requires a variety of therapists and recovery modalities and she is still facing a long road to recovery. She continues to suffer severe nerve and muscle pain. The trauma of this situation, along with the physical pain, medical expenses and mental and physical toll it has taken has been beyond frightening and frustrating, but Amy remains in good spirits.
We can all be of service and help to Amy in her time of need and here are just a few ways we can give back to her what she has so willingly given to us in the past:
- Pray EVERY DAY for her full and fast recovery and for her to stay strong and encouraged throughout this difficult time.

- Food/Meals would be very helpful, as she has difficulty doing small tasks because of her arm. If you don’t live close enough to bring her food, you can send gift cards of restaurants that deliver to her home in Falls Church.
