Hello everyone,
My name is Eric. I am a renal failure patient (kidney failure) and go to dialysis three times per week. I lost my job of nearly 11 years back on 10/31/14 due to management changes within the company. Because of this the complexity of finding a new job that would work around my dialysis schedule has been impossible. I was able to draw unemployment but as of today (3/14/15) that has run out.
As soon as I found myself unemployed, I also applied for Social Security Disability in the event I couldn't find another job. Luckily, I was approved for full benefits, but with Florida law, it's 5 months from when you are listed as unable to work that benefits begin. Since I listed 10/31/14 as the date, this means that the first benefit month is 4/31/15, and thus the first payment (which is sufficient to live on) doesn't begin until the second week of May (as you are paid the month following the first benefit month).
So, the problem is now I have a gap between now and the middle of May. My income tax return was not sufficient to cover me as I'm a single father of three and split the dependency with my ex-wife.
I am trying to get a kidney transplant so that I can return to normal life and work a regular job, but that takes months to years to have occur. In the meantime I need the means to survive and with this two month gap I'm in trouble and need your help.
If you can see it in your heart to help me out, the amount listed covers my rent, electricity, car insurance (required in Florida), gasoline, and food, and nothing more. I just need to make it over this hump in order to start receiving the Social Security Disability check which is $1400 per month for me (so you can do the math and see I'm not asking for more than what is absolutely necessary).
If you wish to email me and / or talk to me, I'm very happy to talk to you. Please help. I have no one where I live that can put me up for two months and I don't want to be evicted from my home.
