Oral Health Campaign for Those in Need

My name is Richard Padovano. During my undergraduate studies at Loyola University Chicago, I was part of a research team that focused on types of oral bacteria known to cause cavities. Through this research, I learned that maintaining good oral health is a significant challenge not only in developing countries, but also in underserved areas of developed countries. In fact, in the US, children from low-income families are twice as likely to have cavities than their more affluent peers. Further, due to cavity related tooth pain, children with poor oral health “miss more school and receive lower grades" than children who have access to adequate dental hygiene (CDC).

My goal is to raise money to purchase basic oral hygiene materials such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dental floss and donate them to Antioch Traveling Closet. Antioch Traveling Closet is a local registered nonprofit organization that provides essentials such as toiletries, school supplies, and clothing to those in need in our community. 

My goal is to raise $1,000. Every contribution makes a difference.
