Helping Lindsey

On February 16, Lindsey Tew was taken to the hospital with life threatening conditions. What seemed to be a minor cold ended up being Flu A, strep, double pneumonia, staph, and MRSA. She was put into a medically induced coma at WakeMed PICU to later be transferred to PICU at Duke Hospital. Lindsey has had so many procedures done to help her overcome what any 14 year old should never have to endure. At Duke she was put on an ECMO machine for her lungs. She had to be put on dialysis due to her kidneys shutting down from being in a coma. Lindsey has also had to have a chest tube inserted into each lung to drain the fluid as well as a feeding tube. Once Lindsey woke up from her coma on February 26th, she continued to have many procedures and was still considered very critical. On March 6th, she underwent surgery for a trach which the doctors had to redo the following day due to unexpected complications. Lindsey has overcome many obstacles, but has a long journey ahead of her. She is truly a fighter!

Before all of the complications, Lindsey was a vibrant, outgoing middle school cheerleader with her twin sister Haley. She did what normal 14 year old girls do. Lindsey was academically involved in school where she was inducted into the Beta Club. She was also actively involved in her church youth group at Shady Grove.

Her parents, Kacey and Dax Register and Max Tew, have had to adjust their daily routine in order to be with their daughter. With any sickness come unexpected burdens. All they have asked for is prayers for Lindsey’s healing. To help with the financial strain, we are asking for any monetary gifts to help this family and most of all Lindsey.
