Hello, my name is Celia, and I'm raising money for my partner of 12 years, Joleen. We live in Florida (separately, but in the same neighborhood) where rats and mold are rampant. We both are living on Social Security, and her story is that she had a lot of rats in her home, and they chewed up her PVC pipes in a third of her home. She raised the money to get a rat wall installed, so no more rats :) However, the pipes were leaking for 2 1/2 weeks, and that bedroom and bathroom are infested with mold. She is doing some do-it-yourself mold remediation, but there is a lot of it behind her fiberglass shower; her walk in closet is ruined, and there is black mold along the baseboards of that bedroom. She lives in a very modest mobile home and has no homeowner's insurance. But it is her home. We are looking at hiring a handyman to help tear the shower and the closet out, and replace the baseboards. Luckily she can use her 2nd shower. By the way, the pipes are all fixed! But unless the mold is properly treated, it won't go away. And it presents a serious health hazard. We are out of money.
So we are just asking you to chip in, and maybe together we can pay her handyman Alfredo, so she can stay in her home. She has no other place to go. Thank you so much!
Pt 2:
Well, Ramon & Alfredo have removed most of the mold. But along with it, they have also removed walls, flooring, the closet, the toilet and the sink! Also, the areas still need to be painted with Kilz. The only areas that still have mold on them are the 2 by 4 studs. So, even they have to be replaced!
This fundraiser is to help with expenses for rebuilding her master bedroom and bath, so she can move back in!
