Optimism Uganda

Thanks to everyone for their generosity and support with my Optimism Uganda page. I have definitely felt at home here and your donations have fed children and taught a community agricultural skills. Some of the funds have started a sewing project with the United Women’s Savings Group in Mulukhu. We have been able to buy three sewing machines for the project. However, we lack the necessary materials, additional machines, manila cards, and money to pay for the training courses. There is need to raise money to meet these above expenses. The project is going to address the problems of poverty. The women will be trained to become tailors and run a sewing business. The members of the beneficiary group will be elevated and empowered to provide basic needs to their families such as education and food. The women have a strong desire to become self-sufficient and want to learn a skill that will provide them employment.

The women’s group will be running a tailoring business. The expert members who will be making sells, will be taking home 50% to the profits for themselves, 30% will be saved in the group accounts for expansion on the business and 20% will be used to make sanitary pads that will be donated to those school going girls from families that are unable to afford sanitary pads.

We want to work with these women so they have hope for their future and are able to make their way out of poverty. People should not experience living in hunger and not having the necessary skills to provide for themselves and their families. With your donations they can overcome this.
