Operation: Get Back Miguel's Things

Donation protected
My name is Sergeant Tyler Frechette. I'm setting this fund up to help a good friend of mine, Miguel Lopez, who has suffered from a series of incredibly unfortunate events over the past few years.

Miguel Lopez (formerly Corporal Lopez, USMC) is a Marine Infantry combat veteran of Afghanistan. He deployed to the Helmand Province of Afghanistan in 2010 with 1st Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment.

Miguel was one of the lucky ones, returning home from the war unscathed in March of 2011. Unfortunately, his luck soon made a turn for the worse. On May 20th of that same year, just a couple months later, he was diagnosed with sinus and brain cancer.

He had two brain surgeries. One to remove a good portion of the tumor, and another as an emergency to remove a blood clot that had formed in his brain. He spent the rest of that year battling cancer through radiation and chemotherapy, and spent 2012 recovering. He finally recovered. During this time, he attempted to join Marine Corps Counter-Intelligence, or Marine Special Operations Command (MARSOC), but was denied both because of medical screening. He also missed the battalion's second deployment to Afghanistan during this recovering period, and was heartbroken because he couldn't return with his peers.

Miguel finally returned to full duty and deployed to Japan and Korea as a Squad Leader. He finally ended his active service in August of 2014. Things were finally looking up for him, with a fresh new start in civilian life. That was, until last week.

Last week, Miguel got a biopsy on sinuses for a suspected sinus cancer recurrence and an ultrasound guided-needle biopsy for a large mass on his neck. The doctors confirmed that he had thyroid cancer.

Not only did he discover that he had cancer again, but his year-and-a-half long relationship came to an end. Finally, to make matters even worse, his home was broken into while he was in the process of moving.

Miguel lost over $8,000 worth of personal items.

I am calling upon the people to help me give back to a family which has given so much. To a Marine veteran who has endured so much more than just war.

Please help me accomplish the goal of this fund, which will replace his stolen items with new ones, and also help to reinforce his house to prevent any future intrusions. Every single dollar will help get him back on his feet. Thank you all SO much for anything you can provide to assist.
