Merrie's Knee Replacement Fund

When my Mom was 25 years old, she had a terrible water skiing accident that completely destroyed her left knee. After intense surgeries and months in a thigh high cast, she was left not only with a seven inch scar, but with one leg at least 1/2 inch shorter than the other. However the effects of this accident have been much more far reaching than she ever could have imagined. 35 years later, and she has no cartilage left in either knee. Standing up, going up stairs, and even just walking are immensely painful for her.  In recent weeks this pain has escalated, to the point that she can barely walk at times. 

Although she tries to maintain a positive attitude, we can see the constant pain she is in daily. She used to be a dancer, water skiier, and horse back rider. These passions are things she can no longer partake in because he body just won't let her. As her knees deteriorate (as if that was even possible) we know that she is in desperate need of two new knees. Due to the struggling economy, our father has struggled with unemployment or at the least underemployment for several years. Their retirement is nearly all gone in an attempt to keep them financially afloat. Financially, the reality of two new knees for my mom is slim, but we, as her children, are hoping to help that as much as possible!

We love our mom, she has always been there for us and devoted her life to making ours a great as possible. She's sacrificed so much for her kids that we want to do anything we can to give back to her! We just want her to be able to walk without being in pain and maybe have the chance to do some of her favorite outdoor activities again.
