RescueOps: Thailand

There are more than 27 million victims of human trafficking around the world, and Thailand is a major hub for this illegal trade. Women and children are trafficked to Japan, Malaysia, South Africa, Bahrain, Australia, Europe, Canada, and the United States for sexual and labor exploitation.

I will be traveling to Thailand this June with six other women as part of RescueOps. RescueOps sends teens and young adults to tackle the greatest injustices of our day. It is a part of Youth With a Mission (YWAM) in Madison, Wisconsin.

YWAM began with a vision of waves of young people crashing onto the shores of other nations, ministering to the broken-hearted and witnessing to people about Jesus. Every year, they send thousands of people (from pre-teen to retired) all over the world on short-term mission trips. You can read more about them here.

Our training begins June 9, just north of Madison, Wisconsin. After training, we will leave for Thailand on June 12 and return on June 30. Our time in Thailand will be focused in the city of Pattaya (Southern Thailand). Pattaya is a tourist location and home to prostitution, sex slavery, slums, and HIV.

While in Pattaya we will be working with people from the project L.I.F.E. foundation, going to slum villages and spending time with women and children there who desperately need to know they are valued and loved by Christ. Read more about project L.I.F.E. here.

I am eager to learn how to share the love of God with people from other cultures, and to see Him work in and through me. I trust that God will use this time to strengthen my faith in His ability to provide and speak to me about His purpose for my life.

I am working hard to raise the $2895 that I will need for the trip, which includes my airfare, accommodations, food, and training. Because I am fully aware that I can't do this by myself, I am asking you to pray about being part of my support team.

Would you pray about giving financially toward my mission trip? I also need people who will pray for us during the coming weeks. I understand that nothing worthwhile can happen if God is not involved, leading and empowering His people. I need a strong network of people committed to pray for our team and for me as we prepare to go and while we are away.
