operationPROTECTus is a nonprofit focused on rebuilding the Black community in every field. Changing the dynamics in every system. For generations we have witnessed the marginalization of our identity and futures. We have seen how the Education system has worked against Black children, how the Prison system has eaten up Black men and made them into modern day slaves. We have seen how Healthcare system has disregarded our symptoms and pain as though we don’t feel pain the same as other races and all too often die at the hands of those who failed to listen to our health concerns. We have seen how the Police who swear to protect us, fail to do so and frequently are the very ones we need protection from. We have witnessed how the Judicial system does not give us the benefit of innocent until proven guilty because our blackness is all the guilt they’ll ever need.

We have seen how red-lining and the Banking system has cast us off so that we are borrowers not lenders, we are renters and not owners. Mental Health wreaks havoc in our communities and our needs go unaddressed. All too often, we don’t stand a chance. We live in food deserts having access to the worst quality produce and being forced to drive miles for decent groceries. Our Businesses are ravaged, not afforded the same opportunities as our counterparts and often fail before they even start. On top of the fact that we have culture vultures who take what we create and don’t bring the profits back into our community.

We need more ownership, we must acquire and build wealth, generational wealth. We don’t own the gas stations, hair stores, or control the overpopulation of liquor stores in our community. It is time for a change. There is wealth among us, there is hope within us. We are a people of faith, we are a people of love. We go out into the world to educate not dominate, we are here to spread love and not hate. It is time for our real story to be told and for us to once again be Kings and Queens in our right. They don’t hate our Black, they hate our light.

To our haters, intimidators and dream takers- You cannot destroy what you did not create and God will ultimately have the last say.

Everything we do is funded out of our own pockets, we want to connect the dots for the community to ensure we are covered on every single front. We need all hands on deck and to work together now more than ever. We need to have access to every resource, we need answers, we need creators, we need our builders to be activated right now. Our issue has always been that we don’t know how to work together,  we were trained to be at odds and often end up working against one another. Our people perish for lack of a plan. It is time for us to learn, grow, build & develop.

OperationPROTECTus is all about bringing each of us together to build something that protects us all. We belong somewhere, even if it’s only together.
