Operation Hospital Blessings 2017

6 years.

Year six of God blessing us with the opportunity to serve as His hands and feet to encourage people who are in the hospital during the holidays. Six years of people like you making this possible for us – thank you more than words could ever say! Thank you for bringing smiles to many, many faces!!

As many of you know, being in the hospital is hard, and especially during the holidays. Whether you are being cared for there, or there with a loved one – It’s like you are in another world. And the rest of the world keeps going on outside around you, but your world has forever changed.

This is a time when people are hurting, and  in so much need of encouragement, and for others to let them know they are cared about and loved. That they are thought of, and remembered.

We are going to buy stuffed animal bears and puppies from Kay Jewelers, and take them to the oncology adult floors at Vanderbilt Hospital the week of Christmas. We will continue to cover as many floors of the hospital as we can. Each year, we have been able to give out hundreds! Last year, people in the hospital heard we were there, and they came down the elevator from all different floors to get stuffed animals, stockings, and blankets to take to the people they were there to see. This absolutely melted my heart.

The bears and puppies are $13.99 each, and every bit of that money is donated to St. Jude. Then we are able to take the stuffed animals with us and give them out at Vandy.

There was one year when we gave an 80 year old man a puppy stuffed animal. I came about a week later to check in and just say hi, and he still has stuffed animal right beside him on the table. He said that the day we gave it to him was his first day having to be at the hospital, & that his wife had been unable to make it there until late that night, so the puppy kept him company.

I tell you this story because we never know how much little things can mean big things!

If you would like to donate, we will use this money to buy as many stuffed animals as we can, as well as fuzzy blankets, and items to make stockings for people. And if you would like to just gather items, or buy the stuffed animals on your own and get them to me - that works too! The items that we need for the stockings are:

Fuzzy blankets, fuzzy socks, fuzzy gloves, chap stick, Christmas ornaments, journals, pens, hand sanitizer, kleenex’s, word searches & crossword puzzles, hygiene products.

Thank you in advance for your caring heart! I can’t thank you enough.

***If you would like to donate a stuffed animal in memory of someone, please just put that in the notes, and we will be sure to give one from you to brighten someone’s day!

This is in memory of Bo Ferguson, and for anyone who has ever had to be in the hospital themselves or with a loved one, and all of our angels in Heaven
