Dear Friends and Family:
Each year, during the holiday season, I try to help out in my own way and through my own minuscule means by tipping extra, donating to the food banks through vouchers provided at the checkout stands of supermarkets and lending a helping hand when opportunity presents itself. Although satisfying, I always wish to be able to do more.
This year, I realized wishing doesn’t get results - taking action does. I have put together a program where my firm will be donating $10,000.00, to be used for two different events: first, a Thanksgiving Day dinner giveaway, where we will assemble bags with a turkey, potatoes and other festive sides and will be handing these out to underprivileged families. Second, a Christmas Tree and toy drive, where we will be giving away a small Christmas tree w/ lights/ ornaments and different toys w/ gift wrapping.
I was again excited by the difference we will be able to make but realized that we can still make a bigger difference.
I have created a gofundme page and I am asking you guys to please consider any donation but more importantly to share this with your friends and family and ask them to contribute. If you can not contribute, at least pass this on to a friend or two.
$150 buys for the Thanksgiving Day Dinner giveaway: dinner for 3 families and for the Christmas Tree and toy drive: a Christmas tree, ornaments/ lighting and gifts with wrapping paper for 1 family.
We frequently go to dinner with our families and spend $100 like its nothing but this $100 will bring happiness, joy and a lasting memory to an entire family. At a time where as a community we often times appear to and feel so divided, this could be our way of making a difference.
We will be announcing where the events are taking place in case anyone who is donating would like to join and will be posting pictures of our progress on different instagram pages, which those who donate will have access to.
I know its a bit early but its going to take tons of planning and lets not forget how fast this time of year slips by.
