Everyone has that special furry friend they would take a bullet for. A soulmate unlike any other. A tiny creature that’s only ever given you unconditional genuine love. This is mine. Her name is Zoe. She’s been a part of my life for 12 years now and even though she was a rescue, she rescued me. When I initially went shopping for a kitten I had something very specific in mind. However the universe had something altogether different picked out for me. When I locked eyes with this tiny black and white kitten she was so small. I took her out of her cage and held her and she gave me those aspca blink twice for help eyes. I knew she may have not been what I was looking for but she was exactly what I needed. It was love at first pet. I rescued her from a pet shop as a malnourished kitten. I did not think she’d be healthy enough to make it this far. Fast forward to today my little miracle baby has fallen ill. She had been unlike herself for some time and when we took her to the vets we were met with terrible news. My little love had contracted feline coronavirus. The time frame was uncertain but she’s probably had it most of her life. She beat the odds anyways and made it to 12. She’s a rare magical being. After hundreds of dollars and a hopeless diagnosis I was feeling like I was drowning. She was given the diagnosis of FIP based on her bloodwork. I was told she would be lucky to have a few good months. Struggling with the news of potentially losing my best friend I sought out a second opinion. I took her to the best doctor in town where they ran more diagnostic tests to cross some possible outcomes off the list. The diagnosis at this point is unknown and will require further testing and possible treatment. She is stable and happy. We are hopeful but in need of help to get her back to full health and find out what has truly been making her sick. Anything helps!
