Daryls never been happy with his smile. This picture shows his lower jaw entirely inside his upper jaw...
5 years ago a front tooth was knocked out which made it even worse for him.
People always think hes a grouch because he doesnt smile, but really he is lacking the confidence to do so, due to a severe overbite.
His bottom teeth touch the roof of his mouth constantly cutting it open and causing issues throughout the day and even while he sleeps. Because of the overbite he cannot even properly bite food because none of his teeth line up.
He's finally met with the right people to explain his problem, and not just offer bandaid solutions. So he is now on track to fix it.
He has lived for 2/3rds of his life with not being able to actually bite into things properly. This is going to be life changing for him.
Daryl is the person who lends our tools, gives away tools, helps people and rarely says no to anyone. So he deserves something good for himself.
His dental plan is extensive.
It involves extracting all his teeth, doing a bone graft, installing ten metal post implants, and two sets of prosthetic teeth. One set for the healing process just so hes not toothless for 4-5 months, and then a set to last him 15-20 years.
The extractions, bone grafting and implants cost $26,000. The dentures are $6000 for the short term set, followed by $24,000 for the long term set.
This seems like an exorbitant amount of money, but to him theres nothing else he'd rather do. He wants to be able to smile, to laugh, to eat, and even to sleep without being self conscious or in pain.
