Operation: Ice Eagle

Tax deductible
Operation: Ice Eagle is an Eagle Scout project driven by local boy scout Xavier Freebairn-Lopes from Troop 874 in Standish, ME. His vision is to build an ADA-compliant ice shelter for disabled veterans and first responders here in our own home state, providing them the ability to enjoy the great outdoors with friends and family during the cold winter season. To do this, Xavier has teamed up with Operation Ray of Light to make this vision become a reality.

Operation Ray of Light provides a hub for community connection, resource development for veterans and families, emotional support, PTSD education, and veteran suicide prevention support. Veterans and first responders with limited mobility or wheelchair confinement face many restrictions during the winter seasons here in Maine due to the inherent challenges presented by the cold, wind, snow, and ice. Our goal is to provide these men and women the opportunity to overcome these obstacles and enjoy everything the winter season has to offer.
