Feed Fragile Communities Cabarete and East DR

Some of you know that a group of us are working to bring some light to the darkness here in the North Coast of Dominican Republic.

I also know this is a scary time for all of us, health wise and financially. I understand, really I do and I wish you all the best.

However, as I sat here worried about my family, here and in the states, wondering how we were going to survive with now 5 children living with us (we have three cousins living with us to help care for them during these times), one income rather than two, bills, etc... sound familiar???

I couldn’t stop thinking about those, who might normally live on $200 a month or less, who already live day to day and now they have nothing, living in my local community. So, with the help of a couple of friends, I went shopping on Monday. We delivered boxes to people living in the saddest conditions onTuesday, delivering about 25 boxes. They live in wooden shacks with dirt floors, tin roofs and walls that allow elements of the outside in. They sleep in beds that are filthy and are shared with every member of the family. I spent most of last evening wiping tears from my face thinking about them and how many more there are just like them. So, I decided to create this plea to everyone who sees this GoFundMe. I want to reach as many families as I can as soon as possible. There are so many more in need. We are hoping to create boxes of the most basic food that will allow a family to eat and stay in their house for a week at a time. This includes rice, oil, crackers, salami, cans of corn, sardines, crackers, oatmeal, milk, beans and bread. We estimate that we spend about $20 per family for that week's worth of food. Our goal is to reduce the amount of deliveries need and keep people in their houses longer.

I am focused on the most fragile. Those that don’t have neighbors to help, people who are completely forgotten by the system, no one sending them Western Union from abroad. I promise you every pesos goes to the contents of the boxes. I have had donations from$15-$400, I promise you no donation is too small. Please donate and share share share.

Please let these people know that the world has not forgotten them. God bless you and keep your family and friends safe, where ever you are.
