Open Hearts to Little Hands, is a non-profit charity organization, organized and supported by a team of strong young women who are looking to inspire others to join us on our journey to spreading smiles during the holidays. December is the month of giving and spreading love to those close to our hearts, but we decided this year its time to give to those who are in need in our community. (read more below)
I, Dilara Yavuzkul , am the founder of our very first organization and hope that we can continue to build a future of projects with the mission of serving those who need a helping hand all year round! My unbelievably inspiring group of ladies have opened their hearts this holiday season to support me. Sydney Drury, Brooke Murphy, Alissa Dicosimo, Kylie Hoxie, Taylor Wright; yes I'm talking about you!
Our mission is to provide the holiday gift wish list for Red Door Family Shelter, in the city of Toronto. By working directly with the Inkind staff at the shelter, we wish to brighten the holidays for homeless families with toys for children between the ages of 6-12, gifts for teens, as well as gift baskets for new mothers filled with baby necessity items! (Gifts will all be photographed, so keep posted on our social media!) We are now reaching out to all of you, seeking for your monetary donations to help us reach our goal in just a few weeks. Given that the shelter will be distributing gifts on the 25th of December, we are forced to set our DEADLINE to December 20th in order to use the funds to plan a full day of gift shopping just in time for our agreed delivery date with the shelter.
Red Door Family Shelter touched our hearts by aiming to provide services to 150 homeless who find themselves in desperate need this holiday season. These include women who are fleeing violence at home, families who are evicted, refugees, or young mothers who may have nowhere to go. With the main purpose of breaking the cycle of homelessness, our hearts break for those children who may not get to experience Christmas the way every child should get to.
We are inviting all of you to be a part of our journey to making a joyful holiday that much more possible for homeless families with children! By working directly with the shelter, I am able to provide all donors ($20 or more) with tax receipts.
