Under One Tent - Ramadan Open Iftar

Under One Tent is an initiative by the Irish Muslim youth to carry out outreach projects towards the wider Irish community. We aim to foster an atmosphere of unity and harmony within the diverse sections of the Irish community, by means of various community-led and focused projects.
Open Iftar 2018 is one such project, that aims to carry out social change by creating bridges between individuals, bringing together communities and fostering interfaith dialogue. The project takes place during the month of Ramadan, the most sacred time of the year for Muslims. It is an opportunity for the wider community to break fast together, the purpose of which is to build trust and friendship. Through this simple act of sharing a meal in an engaging and relaxed environment, we aim to foster an atmosphere of understanding.
Open Iftar 2018 is the sole project of its kind in Ireland, organized by Irish Muslim youth in the heart of Dublin. It is a once-a-year initiative, and this year we expect to cater to an audience of up to 500 people per day.
We have successfully worked with various organizations and businesses in the past, including Sports Against Racism Ireland (SARI), Immigrant Council of Ireland (ICI), Dublin City Interfaith Forum (DCIF), and others. A number of prominent personalities have attended our past events including Sister Stan, the Respected Archbishop Michael Jackson, the Respected Mayor of South Dublin County Council Guss O’Connell, to name a few. Furthermore, various print and digital media outlets including the Irish Times, RTE, Totally Dublin Magazine and FM104 have covered our events.
For this year's event here are some of the expenses that will be covered with your generous donations:
● Tents: €6,000
● Food: €1,500
● Generators: €490
● Sound System: €400
● Activities: €400
● Transportation: €300
Other expenses include:
● Decoration
● Lighting
● Signs for the park
● Banners & posters
● Utensils
● Cutlery (spoons, forks)
● Paper roll for food serving
● Prizes and awards
