Oct '18 Terra's Open Heart Surgery

This page has been set up for Terra Turner (Burgan) to assist with medical and living expenses after her aortic valve replacement surgery on October 24, 2018
Terra's youngest son, Preston, was diagnosed with Marfan’s syndrome last year. This syndrome is a disorder that affects the connective tissues of the body including: heart, eyes, lungs, muscles, and skelaton.
Typically, this genetic mutation is inherited from a parent but Preston's was thought to be a "spontaneous genetic mutation".
In August Terra began experiencing major fatigue and pain and requested an echo. The echo revealed that Terra's aorta was severely dilated. If left untreated a life threatening dissection of the aorta can occur. In September Terra was told that open heart surgery to replace her aortic valve with a mechanical one was the only option to prevent a dissection.
If you know Terra, you know she is the most giving person and is always the first to offer a lending hand, especially when it comes to children. Not only are her own children her passion but she opens her home to foster children who need a loving and caring home, all while she has a full time job as well as pursuing her MSW
As her best friend, this is the least I can do to help her out. I will keep you updated on her recovery process.
