2015 Boston Marathon-Lindsay Duane

In just four weeks, I will be embarking on what will no doubt be the most physically and mentally challenging portion of my personal journey thus far. It has been a goal of mine for twenty plus years to run a marathon... and here I am going to partake in the 119th running of the legendary Boston Marathon.
I am dedicated to raising funds for the Town of Ashland, which is the second town on the route of the marathon. I not only live in town, but I am an employee of the Ashland Public Schools working in the high school and for the Athletic Department. I will be raising funds so that Town entities may receive grants from the B.A.A. Grant Program to better equip our Town and our Schools with items and/or projects they may not be able to otherwise purchase or complete.
Late in my training, another reason for running this marathon came into play. My dear friend, 7 year-old Mason Patriarca, was diagnosed with Guillain Barre syndrome. Mason was not only dealing with a lot of pain, but he also lost movement in his arms and legs. He has spent day and night in the wonderful care of doctors and nurses in Boston to get him on the road to recovery. Mason is doing well and has regained movement in his arms and legs, but he, too, has been dealing with the most physically and mentally challenging time of his life. Mason cannot run right now, and for this, my legs are running for Mason. Any additional funds that I can raise I will be donating to his family to help pay for additional medical and/or therapy costs. When Mason is back to being able to run, I will take him to Boylston Street so he can run across the finish line with me.
