Dobie's Medical Fund

Donation protected
Noble "Dobie" Harrison is my son in law. He is a good man, 48 years of age, who married my daughter Lauren, almost five years ago. He is a man of God, a good son to his mother, a caring brother, and a devoted father to his two adult children (Brittany and Seth) and to his three step children still at home (Isaiah, Lily, and Violet). He is Papaw to Maverick, Lincoln, and a soon to be born grand-daughter. He has always payed it forward with a kind word, helpful actions, and donations to help those in need. They live in Paoli, IN.

Less than two weeks ago the Harrison family's world changed in an instant. Dobie was driven home from work, told he needed a doctor's note to return because of troubling neurological symptoms. MRI the next day revealed mass in his brain. Brain surgery biopsy a week later was indicative of either tumefactive multiple  sclerosis or brain tumor. Dobie endured 5 days in hospital including critical care and suddenly was meeting with neurologists and neurosurgeons. His symptoms continued to worsen. His right side is very weak, face numb, speech impaired, profound fatigue, word retrieval issues, and he began to rely on a cane and walker. Tomorrow we will get a wheelchair for him.

Yesterday while at the neurologist he and Lauren learned the biopsy revealed he has a very aggressive, always recurring, deadly brain cancer called glioblastoma. With treatment the survival rate averages 1-2 years. However, we believe in a mighty God able to perform miracles and we know only God will direct Dobie's life course. Today we got an appointment with a talented neuro-oncologist in Indianapolis and he will review Dobie's medical records, select the best treatment protocol for him, and communicate with more local providers to get radiation and chemo started. His biopsy sample is under review at Mayo's for genetic typing which will tell us which type of chemo would be best. Dobie has remained steadfast in his positive attitude, sense of humor, and faith in God.

Today we applied for social security disability income for Dobie. If approved his start date of monthly checks will be August 2015. His start date for medicare (health insurance is August 2017). The last day Dobie, the primary wage earner for his family, worked was 2-24-15. Lauren had to take unpaid FMLA to care for Dobie as he cannot drive nor attend medical visits alone. He has health insurance through work we believe for the next six months. At that point we do not know what we will do for his medical needs. Right now they do not have adequate monthly funds to meet their bills let alone medical expenses.  They need their friends, family, and church (Apostolic) family to help them keep their heads above water. Imagine having no income and driving every day to medical appointments at places far from your rural home.

Please pray for the Harrison family and if you have the financial resources to help them, we will be eternally grateful for your contribution. We also ask you to please post the link to this fundraiser, hoping that the more people reading about this family's plight the more financial assistance they may receive. All monies received will be used to pay for expenses incurred because of his glioblastoma. Thank you.

This is Dobie's favorite verse and he asked me to share with

you, "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me (Philiappians 4:13).
