We conceived of Big Belly Roti Shop as a way to feed the mind, body and spirit of our communities. We’ve created a space and a place where the people can come together to both enjoy and celebrate the fruits of the African diaspora from which we all spring.
In a world where our common roots have provided stability and nutrition for the masses, our cultural blossoms are being eclipsed by commercialism and homogenization. Big Belly Roti Shop 's mission is to hold onto our cultural richness. How? By creating space for the community to celebrate, honor and build upon the cultural foundations. The One Love Project’s mission goals are to use Big Belly Roti Shop to (1) highlight arts and artists of the diaspora, (2) employ people from the community, and (3) provide uplifting services to nurture the positive growth of Harlem residents.
Our point: running a restaurant in the hotspot of New York City’s business landscape is a challenge while integrating the larger social mission. This is where you come in and we do mean come in! Yes, sit down and break roti with us, and enjoy the food, vibe and ambiance of Big Belly Roti Shop. But beyond that you can be part of the mission, the energy and excitement of this new cultural force by being a sponsor of the “One Love Project at Big Belly Roti Shop,” a mission which belongs to and is the responsibility of all of us.

HELP US FURTHER OUR MISSION GOALS: We need to expand our existing space and build out the lower level of our facility for meetings and events enabling us to expand our enrichment activities to reach out to the community with food, educational, and cultural programs.
