Hi I'm Bidgette, mum of Jack Notty some of you may have heard of him, he had a small campaign running when he went to Wembley with Lincoln City football club.
I'm attempting to do the woodhall spa triathlon in June, this is the first one I have ever done and so am very nervous, running is not my thing at all.....however the training is going quite well. I'm hoping that people will sponser me in this endeavour as I'm trying to raise funds to help our son.
jack is 16 and has medullary thyroid cancer which was diagnosed in November 2015 when he was just 13 years old resulting in having to have an emergency tracheostomy at Nottingham Queens medical Center. That has ment he can't talk anymore but boy he makes himself known and understood.!!! We were also told at that time he already had secondary cancer in both lungs all of which is inoperable.
We as a family have had to deal with lots of operations, treatments, scans and the constant round of drugs and hospital appointments. In November last year we were told the really sad news that the cancer had spread to the bones on his right leg, and subsequently in February of this year to the other leg and his left shoulder.
Even after radiotherapy it has left him with very poor mobility he walks with sticks, uses a wheelchair 90% of the time and needs a stairlift in the home.
Obviously Jack can no longer go swimming something he so enjoyed because of the tracheostomy but recently had the pleasure of using a hot tub at a friends house. It was amazing for him not to feel so restricted by his disability and both the massage and excersize did him the world of good.
We would love to raise enough money to buy one for Jack to have at our house and should we be lucky enough maybe some other treats for him, after all it's all about trying to create special times for him.....
