I am a 43 year-old author living on disability due to a severe mental illness that has affected most members of my family.
Statistics show that one in five of us will seek help for a major mental health disorder at some point in our lives. Keeping this under the rug or in the closet is NOT going to help!
I have an opportunity to take a casual part-time job speaking about mental health awareness at schools and other public places. I want to try and raise $750 so that I can finish a project I have started to make a graphic novel about a young man who suffers from a mental illness and is faced with stigma and great difficulties before finding new hope in treatment and understanding. I feel this graphic novel could help a lot of people, I mostly need the money for editing and printing and will provide a copy of this graphic novel to anyone who contributes over $10 to my campaign if they request it.
