One Year in Krasnoyarsk

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Frankie Emrick.

I live in Palmer, Alaska, but I've spent a lot of my life in other places. My parents have been missionaries almost all of my life, so I have lived in bush Alaska, Oregon, Siberia and Ohio. I also spent five years living in Canada to attend university, graduating in 2012.

I first truly considered missions as a vocation my senior year of high school, when I was challenged to consider what to pursue with the life I have been given. I graduated from Trinity Western University with a BA in Intercultural Religious Studies and a TESOL Certificate with the intent to use them in service to the Church in eastern Europe or Asia. I also volunteered and interned at the Global Projects department of Trinity's student ministries. There I learned to plan, organize and lead short-term missions trips both locally and abroad.

I currently spend most of time as a misdemeanor probation technician at Alaska Family Services in Palmer. I have been working there for the past three years. I also spend a lot of time involved in church and ministry opportunities, from worship team to small groups to leading activities at LEaD Alaska.

In my spare time I love to watch and play team sports, go on adventures and trips, read books that challenge me, and taste craft beers.

In my opinion, the Church in North America has gone from some exciting movements of sending missionaries around the world to becoming more focused on itself and being primarily involved in missions with its finances if at all.

I see my role as a follower of Jesus Immanuel as following His movement and presence in the world today, engaging in incarnational ministry to the indigenous and least-reached people groups of Russia, and discipling native believers to do the same. I want to see the living Breath of God spread across Russia and central Asia.

My more immediate goal is to join the team of InterAct missionaries already in place in Krasnoyarsk, Russia and do ministry with the churches in the city to reach out to the surrounding villages. I will also be teaching English part-time in order to obtain a work visa and to keep my support budget as low as possible.

There will certainly be obstacles to overcome along the way. However, each obstacle presents an opportunity to become more like Christ and to invite others into community with me. The first opportunity will be maintaining my current responsibilities and managing my time well to engage in this partnership development.

Please consider joining me on this adventure!
