One Step Closer to being a Teacher

Dear friends and family,

First off I would like to say thank you for supporting this lifestyle of being a missionary that God has called on my heart many years ago. Without your prayers and financial support there is no way I would be able to fully live out God’s call for my life.

As you may know three or four months ago I came home from doing a DTS with Youth With A Mission. Those six months were beyond life changing in more ways than I even know. I never realized that all our God wants is a relationship with us not a religion, now for me that was a big adjustment because with a relationship comes vulnerability and trust. I would love to say that I have mastered those two things with God but realistically those are the two things I have struggled with the most in my life but I know with God by my side doing life with me, anything and everything is possible.

I’ve learned that we are never truly done spreading the Good News of Jesus Christ. With that being said God has been putting a few new adventures on my heart. The church I am apart of is taking a few people and God Squad Dance Crew this August to partner up with YWAM Cape Town, South Africa. Even though I have been able to experience many different cultures over the past couple of years I still love how each vary from the next. I’m still excited to learn all about the culture of South Africa. I’m not only excited about the culture, but also the local outreaches we will be putting on. While in South Africa I will have the opportunity to sit in with the SBS (School of Biblical Studies) on a lecture of Biblical overview. During my DTS we had a whole week on this topic, but I am excited to refresh my mind so I will be able to connect with people easier because I will know how to share my story with the people I meet and also connect my story with God’s greaters plans for us. Our group will also be partnering with Christiaan Kahler a friend that our youth director knows very well. As we partner with his church we will be reaching out to the millenials who are seeking reconciliation and peace among the people of Cape Town. While being in Cape Town we will get the opportunity to with street kids and their families in a community surrounded by wealth yet living without basic necessities like power and running water.

After being in Cape Town, South Africa for two weeks I will have the chance to go back to South Africa in September but to a different base in a town called Worcester. While being in Worcester I will be enrolled in a TESOL school  (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) the course is four weeks long and it follows with a four week long internship. The course will cover the theories and methods of teaching English, classroom management, learning styles, principles, of language acquisition, and how to teach basic English grammar.

My time at home in between my DTS and TESOL school has been well spent in my opinion. My first month home I spent reconnecting with my family and friends. I also got to be a camp counselor at the Winter camp where I first accepted /jesus as my Lord and Savior. The next couple of months have been spent getting involved with my church, becoming a volunteer staff for the youth group, being involved with a women's bible studied outside on my church, a bible study with some high schoolers from my youth group and I am currently trying to start a women's bible study for girls who are college aged. I have also become a substitute teacher for special education in the Templeton school district, with being a sub I would get a call almost everyday telling witch school to go to and who I would be covering and every time it would almost be a new kid. Five weeks into this job I got a call asking if I wanted to be a permanent substitute till the end on the year. Of course I said YES! Now that I am with the same children every day it has given me the privilege to truly get to know the kids. I have not only been able to help them academically but also socially. I’ve learned that this job is not an easy one; it has its days where it is very mentally draining, but at the end of the day it is very rewarding knowing that I am making an impact on these kiddos witch makes me have a purpose while I am home. I would not want to be dong any other job at this point in my life.

I always say that if it’s from God it will happen even if it seems impossible whitch my mission trip/ school always seem to be, but that is why we have to rely on God to provide for us. Now everything I am planning on doing these next couple of months will cost me approximately 4,000 USD. For me alone this is impossible to earn that much in such a short amount of time, but during my DTS I saw God proved 10,000s of dollars so I know it’s possible. I was on the end of Him telling me to give at time and Him telling me not to give so others could give. Our heavenly father is a funny man but He will always provide for us. I truly believe that God will put something on your heart whether is it to support me through prayer or financially. If you’d like to support me financially you can write a check out to Christian Life Center (so you can always get a tax deductible), or send me cash witch ever works for you.
