One Larchmont, Inc.
One Larchmont, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) recognized charity providing emergency disaster relief to those businesses most threatened by the shutdown, and directly to the employees of those businesses.
We are excited to be able to raise tax-deductible funds to benefit those most in need. Indeed, the benefit to the businesses and employees is better than simply “buying local”. The grants made from One Larchmont, Inc. are themselves, tax-free (i.e., not subject to the receiver’s income tax). The tradition of charitable giving is one of America’s greatest legacies and One Larchmont, Inc. endeavors to continue and maximize the value of that tradition in our local community.
To be sure, One Larchmont, Inc. is not soliciting funds as a vehicle to indiscriminately hand-out money to the Board’s favorite stores. Pursuant to IRS guidelines (see IRS Publication 3833), grant funds will be disbursed on an objective basis to businesses whose very existence is threatened by the COVID 19 shutdown. However, even if a business itself is not at risk, One Larchmont, Inc. will be able to issue grants to furloughed employees who are suffering and can demonstrate clear financial distress.
What is One Larchmont, Inc.? The entity was formed by Larchmont residents in 2019 with the primary purpose to combat community deterioration by restoring and beautifying the streets and exterior façades of buildings located in the town centers exclusively in Larchmont, New York. However, in response to the COVID 19 crisis, One Larchmont, Inc. is raising a discrete fund for the purpose of providing disaster relief in the time of COVID 19.
The Board of One Larchmont, Inc. is not acting alone. Rather, we have formed a committee with the support of Mayor Walsh and the Trustees of the Village. This is a community effort! While a charitable entity is the best vehicle to effectuate the most good, please be assured that those responsible for the disbursement of funds will be those who know the community the best.
One Larchmont, Inc. can accept any type of donation (i.e., cash, credit card, check or appreciated stock) from all persons, individual, corporate, or Trust (i.e., donor advised funds). If you wish to donate directly outside of the GoFundMe page, please email us at [email redacted].
