Bulgarians do not sugar-coat things - "Ако сам не си помогнеш, никой не може да ти помогне" - "No one can help us unless we take the first step." A few Bulgarian immigrants took that first step by creating a school that teaches children about their Bulgarian roots, unites families, and provides a sense of community and belonging.
For the past 8 years, I have been helping the Bulgarian school in Philadelphia by volunteering and advocating for teaching our children to be proud of their heritage.
Please join me in showing your support. Our heritage is the only one our children will have, and when we support the school, we help keep our roots alive for another generation.
The school has a fundraiser to support three important initiatives:
- Purchasing books from Bulgaria
- Organizing a field trip in May (you could come, too, and bring your family!)
- Covering the cost of hosting the school’s new website
The school has prepared a thank you present - you could win a "Malincho" meze basket or get a thermos bottle, or a backpack - more information below.
100% of each donation will go to the school. And since the school is 100% volunteer-based, each donation will be used for the listed causes.
