Who We Are
Omid Advocates for Human Rights is a nonprofit organization based in the Bay Area serving immigrants, refugees and their families. We are seeking support for our MEILS (Middle Eastern Immigration Services) Program, which has been providing mainly our Persian and Afghan communities quality immigration services at very low fees, free community immigration fairs, and referrals specific to our community members.
All our consulations are free. We are community driven, we only have one paid employee receiving a modest part time salary and we are here to SERVE our community!
How We Work
We operate a one-day-per-week immigration services clinic in Oakland, California where our Bay Area and surrounding communities can meet with an immigration attorney for a free consultation or access low fee services. Appointments for our clinic are made by calling [phone redacted] x. 2.
We also hold free immigration clinics throughout our East and South Bay communities, where any one in the community can come for free consultations with one of our volunteer immigration attorneys.
Albeit being open only one day per week, our immigration attorney takes and returns calls throughout the week and meets with current clients on days outside the clinic day.
We Need Your Help!
We don't have any grants! And we are busy serving our Farsi speaking community. We have been providing services for over two years, and we TRULY NEED your support to keep going!

Our Community needs services that are accessible just like all communities.
We can not ignore that we serve low income persons in our very own community. That we need services to remain accessible within our community. We need to provide cultural and language specific services to our Persian and Afghan community members.

We serve our community in Farsi-Persian/English
310 Individuals have been served through our services over the last two years holding our One-Day-Per-Week Immigration Office
88% of those we have served are low-income members of our community
58% of those we served are unemployed
We have processed 51 adjustment packages/greencard for Refugees/Asylees in our community
We hold immigration community fairs/clinics to help guide our community FREE OF CHARGE and to help EDUCATE our community members of immigration petitions they may be eligible to petition for
We strive to give Iranian and Afghan women a place to come to get access to immigration petitions and avenues specific for survivors of domestic violence
