Ollie Hill - Road to Youth Winter Olympics 2024

I’m Oliver Hill, aged 15 from Worcester in England (UK). I have recently been selected for the British Biathlon Union National Development Team after taking part in a four-phased National talent campaign which took place over the last six months. I am asking for your help as I am aspiring to compete in the British Biathlon National Championships in January 2022 followed by the IBU Youth European and World Championships which are held every year, and then eventually the Youth Olympic Winter Games in 2024.

Biathlon is regarded as one of the most physically and mentally demanding sports in the World where you move from the high cardiovascular activity of cross-country skiing to the fine motor skills required for target shooting. You must ski at maximum intensity with a rifle on your back then stop and shoot targets. Each miss results in a penalty which ultimately adds to the length you must ski, and some races are 20km long!

In order for me to compete in the British championships and International competitions I need to purchase a Biathlon rifle, training/racing skis and boots, and other winter equipment and clothing; in addition to this, I have been offered the opportunity to go to Norway, Germany and Canada over the next 3 months in order for me to train and compete with the GB team – I currently have to fund my own flights and accommodation to these competitions and training camps. 

Any support that you can provide would mean a great deal to me and will allow me the opportunity to reach my full potential and hopefully the Youth Winter Olympic Games in 2024!
