Olivia's treatment for Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome

Olivia is a 11-month-old kitten who was diagnosed with Cutaneous Asthenia (Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome) by Veterinary Skin & Ear in WLA.  It is a genetic connective tissue disorder characterized by a collagen defect. Olivia’s skin is fragile and tears very easily. If she scratches, she tears her skin; if she wrestles or plays with another kitty, her skin tears. 

She is a very sweet loving affectionate kitten who loves chasing wand toys or playing with electronic motion toys. Bird, squirrel, butterfly watching are her favorite hobbies.   Gentle pets immediately illicit big purrs! She’s a happy kitty who enjoys a good quality of life. 

There is no protocol for allopathic treatment at this time, but holistic medicine will help her. Olivia’s life expectancy is unknown, but what is known is that there are holistic therapies, dietary supplements and a diet that can help her skin heal, regenerate and reduce inflammation. 

Her treatments cost approximately $2,500. It would be wonderful if we could raise that amount for her!  Who knows, she may be a test case for other kitties afflicted with this genetic condition and provide a treatment plan.
