Olivia Transverse Myelitis

Hi, my name is Olivia.

2 weeks ago, I was transported to the hospital in excruciating pain radiating from my chest down to my arms and legs. Within 30 minutes of being taken by paramedics, I was completely numb from the neck down, and the ability to move my left side was gone. My pupils were uneven, and my left eye had a slight droop. We assumed a possible stroke.

After a week of CT scans, MRIs, a spinal tap, and two different hospitals, they found significant inflammation in my spine. The cause of the inflammation is still unknown.

After intense steroid treatment, I regained some movement in my left leg, just enough to get around at home with a cane. My left arm remains flaccid, but I'm hopeful. Praying that intense rehabilitation and physical therapy will result in full recovery.

I made this Gofundme in hopes to soften the blow of medical bills for my family. My little sister and I had lengthy hospital stays in the past year, which I know adds up. Funds will also go towards safety installments in my apartment to prevent falls while I regain more strength and balance.

Here I'll be posting updates on my recovery. Any donations will be highly appreciated, as the paralysis has left me unable to work for the time being.
