Private surgery for little Oliver

Donation protected
Oliver has been diagnosed with a condition called Obstructive Sleep Apnoea.

He has severely enlarged Adenoids and Tonsils which need to be surgically removed to help him breathe, especially at night. This condition means that he stops breathing in his sleep for up to 10 seconds at a time, which is really very scary!

This operation will mean that he can finally eat properly (he hardly touches his food), it will stop his constant and extreme night sweats, help stop his fairly aggressive and loud snoring, and also give him a chance to have a decent night's sleep!

He wakes up anywhere between 5-15 times a night, in most cases in a fair amount of distress because he gets scared, and sometimes it's difficult to get him back to sleep. This is hard on all of us, especially poor Oliver who gets very tired during the day.

Having this condition has affected his speech development, and if left untreated it can have a significant impact on his quality of life causing problems such as poor performance at school, behavioural issues, and in general it will slow down his overall development because he is sleep deprived. It can also increase the risk of strokes, heart issues and high blood pressure later in life.

His condition is also making him prone to infections which does makes his daily life even more of a struggle. He has had numerous illnesses such as chest and throat infections, which just make this condition even worse. We spend our time in the evenings and at night watching him very closely, making sure that he is OK.

He has spent time in the children's ward at Hospital were his Oxygen levels have been monitored whilst he has been asleep. So far this has not dropped to being dangerously low, but the big worry for us is that this could happen and he could starve of oxygen if this condition is left untreated.

Funding for surgery has be applied through the NHS, but there have been major complications with this and we might be facing months of waiting before we even get a date. As a result, we desperately want to speed up this process and would love for him to go to a private hospital and have the operation straight away.

Life really has become a struggle for all of us, and most importantly for our sweet, kind, happy, lovely boy Oliver. This is a plea for help, to give Oliver the operation he needs a quickly as possible.

If after surgery any money is left over, it will go towards a lovely treat for Oliver once he has recovered.

Thank you.
