There are some moments in life which brings everything all stop and forces you to stare down that which you wouldn’t wish upon your worst enemy.  A moment when the weight of fear, sadness, anger and despair suddenly converge upon you and makes it almost impossible to breath.  Your husband has cancer.  Your partner.  The person with whom you are supposed to live out all of your days.  Aggressive cancer.  Something you didn’t even see coming is now the worst possible scenario you have to somehow digest.  Fighting against the worst odds.  Creating a bucket list.  Radiation.  Chemotherapy.  Trying to retain some sense of normalcy even though you know nothing will ever be normal again.  This is what our friend Brigitte is facing today.  Her husband, Calvin, has been diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to the lungs.  The prognosis is dim and the fight will be hard, but it is our hope that we can bring comfort to Brigitte and Calvin to know that they can stand together and fight with arms of support wrapped around them.

Brigitte has a loving and devoted work family that has already made plans to support her in various ways throughout this battle, but we want to extend our reach as far as Brigitte’s own compassion has reached.  Your donation will allow Brigitte to be with her husband as he fights this battle, in terms of critical financial support in covering necessary household expenses, medical bills, and hopefully the opportunity for them to enjoy what could be fewer precious moments together.

Brigitte, we love you.  You and Calvin are not alone.  This is not the way we would have wanted to tell the world about you, but here we are nonetheless.  You are a bright light in this world; your compassion for others shines through in everything you do.  The most incredible thing about you is how consistently you live this pledge of compassion.  We hope to return this to you in some way as you face this life altering time.  We look at it as calling in the biggest rainy day fund ever.
