Olga's Pizza

Walking through Broadway I am saddened by the amount of closed businesses I have encountered. But one that hit home was Paul/Olga’s Pizza. While some may remember stopping by here to grab a pizza after school. Generation after generation have indulged in the pizza made by this remarkable family. They were first located where McDonald’s is now on 138th and broadway; then on 3409 Broadway. Regardless of where they moved, they continued to serve the community and serve as a landmark representing home.

In an ever changing community, they remained the beacon of familiarity until COVID-19. As a result of business closures and the landlord’s refusal to grant them an extension or decrease their $10,000 rent they are now forced to close after 45 years servicing our community. I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner and voicing how much I wished they would of reached out to the people that would come from all over just to eat a slice of their pizza. Starting over is difficult for anyone and more so at an older age.

As a community let’s come together to help rebuild this legacy and if it turns out that they can’t start over (which I pray they do) lets give them a parting gift to show them how grateful we are for the decades of service and that they along with their pizza will truly be missed, remain in our hearts and memories. #HelpSaveOlgasPizza
