The University of Mississippi Ice Hockey Club is a Division II member of the College Hockey Federation, representing the university in the Southeastern Collegiate Hockey Conference. The club strives to bring its players success in all facets of life, and each year the coaching staff assembles a team that can perform at an elite level on the ice while maintaining a focus on the advancement of our player's education.
We were founded in 2009 by Collin Knight, and since then has continuously grown in status, competitiveness, and membership. The current head coach, Josh Herbert, took over the program in 2018 and was named SECHC coach of the year in the run to the program's first-ever SECHC championship in 2020, defeating Arkansas 3-1. Following our championship, the team was recognized by multiple Ole Miss media outlets, as well as Chancellor Glen Boyce, and Ole Miss legend Eli Manning. As a program, our goal is to continue to enhance and grow our program in Oxford, on campus, and in the league. We continue to strive for excellence and are focused on the success of our program, which is why we are here. At Ole Miss, we are a club sports team, meaning we are an entirely student-run organization. Financing for the club comes from members' dues, local sponsors, and donors. Currently, players pay between $2000-$2500 each year to help fund the season, and we want to alleviate some of that stress. Being so, it is often difficult to finance the season purely off dues and sponsors, as ice time, team buses, gear, uniforms, and everything else stacks up a large bill on our end. We travel all over the country to play games and bring pride to our University, and money is an essential part of our program to continue this. Our goal is currently $15,000 all of which will go towards ensuring our program continues to grow and be successful. Anything and everything helps, and we continue to look for more local sponsors to help us in the long term. Donations will help us when it comes to travel fees, ice fees, hotel fees, gear fees, and more. More importantly, a larger budget allows us more room to give back to all of you - the fans. We have lots of plans for the future, merchandise, and more, and this kickoff will allow us to get our plans in motion.
By donating to our campaign, you are not only helping us improve our image, but you are helping us represent the University of Mississippi properly on and off the ice, and helping us promote and establish a culture of excellence and fun. Our players, coaches, and staff cannot thank you all enough for all the support.
Again, thank you for the support, and go Rebs!
