Old Oakland Neighbors wants to strengthen our neighborhood identity, clean up our streets and do our part to divert litter from clogging our storm drains and polluting the bay. How? We want to cover our ugly trash can enclosures with beautiful mosaics featuring local birds and plants. But we can’t do it alone. With your help we can transform Old Oakland’s ugly trash cans into neighborhood treasures. When more people notice our beautiful new trash cans, more people will use them. We have received some generous grant funding and we have some dedicated volunteers to get us started, but we need support from people like you to scale our efforts. We have completed 19 Old Oakland mosaic cans so far, and have recently expanded our scope to include Lafayette Square Park. We hope to cover all the cans in the neighborhood, but we will only be able to proceed as funds are raised. Help beautify Old Oakland by making a tax-deductible donation today. Any amount you can donate will make a big difference. So pledge your support today! *Grant funding generously provided by NCB, The City of Oakland, Capital Impact Partners, the Clean Water Program of Alameda County, Keep Oakland Beautiful and the Downtown Oakland Association. *Swan Sponsors: - Old Oakland's Metro Bay Realty - Joshua and Ruth Simon - Old Oakland Farmers' Market - Strada Investment Group - Brook and Ben Vanderford - Farmers Insurance: Ruth Stroup Agency - Weylin and Roselyn Eng - Douglas Parking - First Alarm Security & Patrol, Inc. *Peace Dove Sponsors: Chris Morgan - Ratto's Deli - Chris Rachal - Beeson, Tayer & Bodine, APC - Maple Street Denim - Steve Lowe - Oaklandish - Creative Space - Trent Holsman *Humming Bird Sponsors Joan Edelstein - Noel Vivar - Dale Chung - Louiza Gueorguieva - Marilyn Chin - Phuong Quach - Learners Guild - Jeremy Rachesky - Dennis Rothhaar & Mimi Steinbock - Harriet Fukushima - Michael Schafer Follow our project on Facebook! See photos of completed mosaics Our Artist: Juan Lopez, New Word Mosaics Our Fiscal Sponsor: The East Bay Asian Local Development Corporation Additional Advice and Support from: The Golden Gate Audubon Society, Sustainable Oakland, and the East Bay Chapter of the California Native Plant Society
