Help Old Mill Market take down some walls!

Hello everyone!
After a tremendously difficult 15 months,  of working incredibly hard so that my small business would make it through the pandemic, Old Mill Market & Café has emerged successfully and thanks to the support of our amazing customers is starting to thrive. We are even starting to outgrow our little space. And with the colder months approaching,  and the inevitable loss of out outside seting as a result, we need to take advantage of the space available for rent in our building and expand! Which means, it's time to take down some walls and we need your help!

My name is Christina Mattinson. As most of you probably know, The Old Mill Market & Café prides itself as a boutique general store, serving our community in several ways. We are proud to be offering freshly baked pastries, pies and breads, custom cakes, specialty grocery, and pantry items, and unique gifts for the whole family.  As well as hosting small events and catering off site functions,

We have been increasing our product offerings and our café business is booming. But unfortunately on rainy days and in the winter we have been unable to offer warm, dry, indoor seating to our customers. So there is only one solution,  increase our square footage! With the blessing and support of our landlord, we have the opportunity to expand the footprint of the store and acquire the front part of the building. Along with greater visibility and access, we will be able to increase our grocery and general store offerings, as well as provide ample indoor seating for café customers looking to dine, relax and enjoy the historic ambiance of Georgetown.

The expansion would double our square footage and, in turn, provide a larger indoor space for private parties, social events, and more educational workshops that will interest and benefit our community. This will enable us to book more events year-round since the weather and seasons currently curtail our ability to host in our outdoor spaces.

My goal is to raise $75,000, which will be put towards some of the mounting renovation expenses, the acquisition of new retail refrigeration, and some of the other operating costs during the first year. I have applied for state and federal grants, and am offering 5-10 year interest-free notes to family and friends. But I also need you, my patrons of old and new, and fellow community members, whom I may not yet have had the privilege to serve, to help us get over the hump. It is through your generosity and shared vision that we can continue to help build Georgetown into the vibrant and welcoming district it once was.

This expansion would open up a lot of opportunities for the Old Mill Market & Café as well as for the Georgetown community and business district. Georgetown Village has always had fantastic potential to be a thriving main street area. But it needs small businesses like mine, and people like you, to support the vision and propel the resurgence of this once bustling village. Therefore I hope you will consider contributing to my fundraising campaign, and help me build an Old Mill Market & Café that can truly become a cornerstone of our community.

No matter what, I will continue to serve my community real food, made with high quality, real, local ingredients and infused with the passion and great pride I have for my craft. Thank you very much for your interest and support.
