Puppy Mill Rescue In Okinawa

Here in Okinawa, myself and a few others are currently working on saving dogs from 3 different puppy mills. The dogs we are saving are the dogs who no longer serve a purpose to the breeder because they are too old to reproduce anymore. So because they can’t give them puppies to sell for profit, the dogs are doomed. All these dogs are in deplorable body condition. Their teeth are rotten and falling out, mange, fungal and bacterial infections, raw and deformed feet from living on wire kennels, blindness, ear infections and emaciation are just a few things that all these dogs are suffering from. There are no rules against animal abuse like this in Japan. The only way these men can get in trouble is if they are caught abandoning or killing the dogs no longer wanted. BUT if the dogs die of “natural causes” aka starvation, they cannot get in trouble. All the dogs we are rescuing are dogs amidst being starved to death. They are doomed to a slow and painful death once they can’t provide more puppies. A woman I’m working with became friends with the breeder and asked if instead of killing the dogs if he would be willing to give them to her, and he has reluctantly agreed. So far we have raised almost $1,200 but a large chunk of that has already been spent on the initial vet visit of a single dog we rescued last week. We expect to save more dogs next week however we cannot take these dogs in if we do not have funds and supplies readily available for them! We need help. This won’t be a one time fundraiser, we will need continuous support as we fight to save these dogs. We cannot save them without you.
