Hello. My name is Mai Takeuchi. I have been training with Eihachi Ota Sensei since 2011.
Ota Sensei in Honbu Dojo
Ota Sensei has been teaching traditional Okinawan karate since 1970 (50 years!). Through his many seminars, he has been able to share his karate knowledge and training techniques around the world. His Shorin-Ryu Karate and Kobudo Association (www.shorin-ryu.com ) has more than 500 members worldwide.

His Okinawa Budokan Honbu Dojo is open 7 days a week, 365 days a year. It has provided us students a place to learn, train hard, and enjoy the camaraderie. Ota Sensei enjoys teaching multiple classes each day. He is devoted to teaching his younger students not only karate but also the importance of courtesy, discipline, and education.
Also, the dojo has been able to help at annual local fundraising events by providing karate and kobudo demonstrations.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the honbu dojo was ordered to close on March 16, 2020. It re-opened on June 14, 2020 but was ordered to close again on July 13, 2020. As a result, Ota Sensei has had to start using his personal money to cover the costs of rent, utilities, and cleaning and disinfecting supplies.

In order to preserve our dojo and assist Sensei, we would like to raise around $7,500 to help pay for the dojo's rent, utilities, supplies, and possible COVID-19 prevention upgrades during the forced closures. Of course, we are fully aware that this pandemic has had a great negative impact on everyone. Please do not feel pressured or obligated to donate. However, if you are fortunate enough to be in a position to donate, any amount would be greatly appreciated.
